Our Program
In a warm, child-friendly
atmosphere,
A Growing Place
offers a developmentally
appropriate preschool
program for children
33
months of age to six years
old.
We provide a safe and
nurturing environment, which
is both engaging and
interactive.
Through play time, weekly
themes, learning centers,
circles, and activity times,
our
daily lesson plans detail a
variety of experiences.
Our curriculum emphasizes a
balance of cognitive
learning,
motor skills, social
interaction, creativity, and
a
positive self-concept.
Our Commitment
As long time early childhood
educators and professionals,
we have contributed
to the development of
literally thousands of
children in our community.
This has been both an
amazing experience and an
incredible honor.
Our Philosophy
At A Growing Place, we have
a special appreciation for
how young children learn.
We understand the magnitude
of early education and the
importance of a solid
beginning.
We recognize that the
focus of a quality preschool
curriculum must
address the whole child and
maintain a healthy balance
in each area of the child’s
development and learning.
Our Staff
Director and Teachers
A teaching degree in
elementary or early
childhood education or a
degree in
child development is
required for these
positions.
These staff members
also
have an extensive background
in the field of early
childhood education and
many years of experience
working with young children.
Assistant Teachers
Our support staff is caring,
knowledgeable, and also has
a great deal of experience
working with preschool age
children.
Additional Required Training For Staff
Our staff is required to
have current CPR, First Aid
and Pathogen Certification,
as well as a minimum of 12
hours of continuing
education in child related
subjects
per year.
Enrollment
Enrollment in any of our
programs is subject to
availability and on a first
come first
serve basis.
Children must be at
least 33 months of age and a
minimum enrollment
of at least two times per
week is required.
The Can Do Curriculum & Can
Do Checklist
We developed “Can Do” a few
years back to encourage and
reinforce healthy habits,
an awareness of safety,
independence, and self
esteem in young children.
Activities,
such as hand washing,
managing sneezes and coughs,
and many other particularly
useful skills are taught and
practiced throughout the
year.
Classrooms
Our indoor space features
two large classrooms that
are super well-equipped with
toys and learning materials.
Some of the
highlights include: a sand
table, water table,
computers,
puppet theater, store
front, woodworking table, a
space for block
building and gross motor
toys, areas for science,
math, language, and
geography plus
a space for quiet time and
reading.
In addition to this
we also have a life-size,
two
story play house for baby
dolls, cooking, and laundry.
Very fun!
Outdoor Play Facility
A terrific outdoor play
area, our (very amazing)
playground is fenced and
outfitted
with commercial-grade
equipment, an enormous
sandbox, and a wonderful
array
of outdoor toys, bikes, and
other activities.
Wow :)
